To the sea...

For a change of colour, sound, smell and scene... We - upon not much more than a moment's notice - headed towards the ocean blue...

To be washed in yellow sand, in salt and water. And play on the beach with our babes.

To observe those costal bound birds - and enjoy Tara at one, all but flying high alongside with them, and quite certainly right up in the air, in her mind...

A long journey to a seaside town,
On a moment's notice,
Arm in arm with my love, my children,
My brother and sisters, niece and nephews,
Home to have church and read Proverbs 28,
Drink tea together and enjoy some lingering Christmas Belgian dark chocolate...

This year so far is immensely, undeservedly blessed!

Van Diemen's Land

Due to cheap Virgin flights, and a love of spontaneity, last Friday morning myself and some good Tully women embarked on a short trip to Hobart, Tasmania. We became wide-eyed explorers of the Salamanca district...

We toured the alley ways, and the galleries...

I found a tiny copy of Shakespheare's Sonnets which I have long been after on the mainland. I should have known I would find it amongst the quaintness of, here...

The Salamanca Fruit Markets, was where we explored the local grocery selection. Found amazingly good apple juice and unspeakably pure dairy; still in bottles, like a step back, in time, and up, in quality...

The galleries, were little shops and vice versa -

I left my heart in many o' them...

We met with dear friends who led us on a scenic journey to Battery Point, where we ate amazing food and admired gorgeous European Style housing and the great Mount Wellington...

On Saturday the main street in Salamanca became a buzzing place of arts and crafts, fresh food, local delicacies, live music, colourful characters, and charmingly freezing weather!

Later as we walked through the city I chose to interpret merely the latter part of this Bushells Tea sign for my own purposes!

But it was the sea that did something to me. I had never before been so far South of my beautiful home country; and to stand on the dock knowing if I jumped on a tall ship I could sail to Antarctica, was something special...

The Lord loaned us some sunbeams to help savour the moment.

And the Aurora Australis was in dock...

I could not get enough of nautical rope.

And all be in all, I can say that if ever I had to leave beautiful Canberra, I could, and would move to this beautiful scenic, and every-so-slightly-wacky place! Artistry flows here. Like the perfect waters. I feel myself drawn to come back again and again. To write songs about the things I have seen, and felt here.

I think you need sometimes to get away. In order to come back. So as to see, everything clearly. There has been such delight, and unexpected therapy, in the reflection, of far away waters.

Winter picnic weekend...

{I take as much pleasure in the way ingredients look, as I do in how they taste...}

This weekend I made a hearty pumpkin soup, packed it up amongst other goodies for a Winter picnic/road trip/family exploration to Tidbinbilla Tracking Station.

So the soup;

The long, winding Australian roads;

...and all four of my children were a pleasure to taste, see, and just be with this Winter weekend.

Snow wonderful!

Feet provided by Tara & my good self...

Footprints courtesy of my good friend, and sister Kathleen...

After long walk in the snow, we shared hot tea from my Thermos flask, dark chocolate and giggles in the cool air this Saturday morn. Winter seems extra wonderful when it's white!

I have been...

...(late in posting recent adventures & come to you baring humble apologies)

I have been, this weekend, in the company of dear people.  I have had breakfast with a Windhover, my darling Emma, and of course, my friend...

Like another blog I follow - I too have been walking amongst 'fruit salad' Autumn leaves;

I have been swanning around a precious, inspiring gallery;

I have been fortunate enough to see some work I recognise!  Which looked amazing, enticing, and so well 'collected' for one so young...

I have been, on a little tour of Newtown, (including Gould's book shop)...

Where I have seen some beautiful things...

I have been to the University of Sydney - an amazing, vast, beautiful, and somehow spiritual place...

And I have spotted pixies playing in the gardens!

I have been with a friend...  And our shadows have played on the green green grass...

On the way home, I knew I had been finding art and beauty everywhere in Sydney...

And I have been writing it down, to share with you.
